I don't have an OMNI mine is a Jupiter, and hve been told by several hams and TT to run my 'RF output' at 100% out and use the soundcard and interface to adjust the meter reading to ~30 watts. Howeve

Maybe this will help a bit....the Jupiter, Like the Pegasus which I had in the past, uses digital audio processing, and is much more forgiving of audio drive than either the Corsair II, Omni vi or ot

Absolute correct. Run the RF output always at 100% and reduce the audio level from the sound card and or the mike gain to produce 30 to 35 watts of output. Now then, this says tune up to maximum outp

Bob, K4TAX, et all I'm one of those 'Hams' that make PSK too difficult. I set my 'rf out' @ 30% and went along fat, dumb, and happy working stations even tho my ALC led was on. Thanks for the info. 7

Do you run an interface or any form of impedance matching? --Rick ??WO8L Absolute correct. Run the RF output always at 100% and reduce the audio level from the sound card and or the mike gain to prod

With the Paragon II, the Omni VI Plus and now the Omni VII, I connect the line in and line out on the back of the radio direct to the sound card. There are no pads, no transformers, and no interface

Transmitter is always adjusted for max or rated output thus RF Level is always 100%. The level from the sound card along with the respective input control on the radio is then adjusted to produce 30

I see very few if any signals on the band that exceed -28 to -30 dB IMD on the receive end. If you get a signal report that your IMD is -15 to -20 dB then one should consider that there is a problem

FWIW, -25 dB is not that great. 25dB down from 100 watts is 0.25 watts, enough to QRM a weak signal. 73, Jim _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com

Rick W08L, I am running a rascal GLX as my interface. TT has suggested I put in an additional attenuation pad between my interface and rig. so I am homebrewing another. Larry WA7HDZ _________________
