My new Orion will arrive this week and I have downloaded the manual. I had been using SignaLink SL-1+ with the Jupiter. I notice that the AUX socket on the Jupiter is 5 pin and the Orion is an 8 pin.

Dick, You can use the 5 pin DIN with the Orion. The 5 pin DIN has the same spacing as the 8 pin. Pins 1 through 5 on the Orion are the same as on the Jupiter. The difference between pins 4 and 6 is t

I think it would be more helpful, that we, before giving out advice on equipment, read the manual and make sure the advice we are giving is correct. The information given below this on the AUX I/O is

The problem is that LEFT and RIGHT don't have a meaning if you are dealing with the speaker. I also believe from my testing of the Orion back in August, that that description is a little simplified.

Tom, I talked with Stan at TT and the information that you gave in your post is correct. It is possible that the sender was talking about the Jupiter DIN connections and not the Orion DIN connections

I don't know if the Orion is different, but I find that the 5-Pin DIN (ACCY) on the Pegasus has too HIGH a level for my soundcard. I have to run the mixer input slider at almost minimum and I still

Hi Dick, I think an 'important' but overlooked feature of the Orion is that you do not need any interface at all!! I run PSK and MTTY with the Orion hooked directly to my PC sound card. It works grea

W4BQF suggested that "you do not need any interface at all" for the Orion's aux audio connections. Does the Orion internally isolate the ground connections on the external aux audio lines? Opto-isola

I can't be sure of this because I have not looked at the schematic's of the I/O connector yet. However I have spent some time, running barefoot, on 20m PSK. Of course PSK only requires the audio out

I see nothing in the schematics that suggest isolation. But the schematics are not easy to follow. John N1JM W4BQF suggested that "you do not need any interface at all" for the Orion's aux audio conn

Tom, my guess is that without isolation it will usually work but at some point in the future Murphy is gonna jump out and grab you! I think I recall you have your antennas quite a ways from the shack

If you notice some 60hz hum in the audio (I did), you might want to put an isolation xfmr in the audio line(s). Schematic 81917_6 in zone B8 shows auxout and there's no isolation that I can see. Ther
