Hi, Through trial and error, and with the help of several listening stations, I've come up with the following transmit audio settings for the Orion II, when used with the 707 Regal microphone on AM.

On the air reports should be your guide Ray, but not sure why you would want TX BW 2100 hz on AM? I operate on 10M AM, and there's plenty of room above 29.0Mhz, so I just open up the bandwidth. I get

Hi Barry, Yes, you're right about the bandwidth. I had set it to 2100 because I had a report that it improved the modulation depth. I didn't quite understand why, but as you said I let the on-air rep

Does the Orion II transmit full AM, that is both sidebands? ** --Original Message-- From: Rsoifer@aol.com Sent: Saturday, December 03, 2011 9:35 AM To: tentec@contesting.com Subject: Re: [TenTec] Ori

Yes, double sideband with carrier. FWIW, I've measure the transmit passband at 3900hz setting and it's actually 3000hz, which is still pretty good. 73, Barry N1EU ____________________________________

Barry:  Watch your bandwidth!  AM Signals should be no more that 6khz wide and you are 7.4 khz with that 3.9 khz setting!. Clayton N4EV ________________________________ From: Pumbaa <pinkertontommrs@

Nope, Orion's TX bandwidth at 3900hz setting is actually 6Khz - I've measured it. I wouldn't go this wide if the band was crowded at all, but on 10M stations are typically spaced every 10Khz. Barry N

Yes, it's full AM but controlled carrier. When I'm not talking, my carrier output measures 12 watts. It goes up to 25 when fully modulating. 73 Ray W2RS. _____________________________________________

Hi all, Based on further experimentation and comments from some of you on this reflector, I've come up with the following "revised" settings for operating the Orion II on 10-meter AM with the 707 Reg
