Gentlemen, forget the "theory" and focus on practice. I have just disassembled my 30 year old Shure 444 and as I suspected, it has both grounds tied together to pin 2. To be exact, pin 2 has the cabl

Yes, that's about my only alternative, though I hate doing half jobs. If I can't do it right, I don't really want to do it at all. Perhaps I'll just scrounge through the junkbox and hunt out the best

HiIn most cases the factory microphone works fine. I use the 706 and Orion at legal limit with no problem. They are very clear in the Orion manual that the mike is wired properly for the Orion. Other

Well, It is suggested to verify some things, but rewiring the mic is not mandatory IMO. I have a serious RF problem with my G5RV wire antenna and I think I'll drop down this antenna tomorrow if I can

Eric, Sounds like you are on the right track now. Before you take down the G5RV, unhook your RF ground from the Orion ( if you are on the second floor, it may be too long) and also unhook the externa

In cases like this, where one antenna causes RFI problems, and another one doesn't, antenna location is more then likely the problem then anything else.I've often wondered when feedline radiation is

Unfortunately it could be both! At the end of a dipole is very high voltage and if it hangs close to the vicinity of your shack, it could induce RFI. Same thing for feed line, every odd quarter wavel
