Reading the posts about Orion freezes, burps and anomalies, with the usual fix being a power reset, made me wonder... That is how my keyer reacts to RFI. Is it possible these issues are not software
Good point ... except the problems seem to be occuring on RCVE mainly ... not in the XMIT mode ... TenTec's do seem to be more prone to RFI problems <... read the archives>. Here's to hoping ALL the
Craig, I believe RFI succeptibility is a distinct possibility. I've seen some pretty strange behavior in both a multi-multi and SO2R contest configuration (two different QTHs.) In my system, I put a

Good suggestion, in my opinion. I use RG-174 for all speaker, control lines, and the "bug" . 73, Troy, W6HV -- Original Message -- From: "Art Searle" <w2nra@birdsandbeacons.com> To: <tentec@contestin
Another source of RF into the Jupiter (maybe the Orion too) is via the TX EN amp control line. I had a devil of a time solving RFI screwing up the Jupiter when connected to a Herc II. Ten-Tec Service
Jason, Connect a 30 ft. long piece of copper wire to the ground post of the ORION and run it along the floor inside the house, wherever you can. Doesn't matter if you have to zig-zag it. It will work
Regarding RF pickup on the Jupiter via the speaker jack: My RX-350D is said to be the receiver section of the Jupiter. My problem was the transmission of rf energy out of the receiver and into the ve
Henry, That sounds great. Do you have the possibility to draw a schematic and scan it in as a jpg file? Or perhaps as a PowerPoint file? Or worst case, could I trouble you to mail it to me. If I have
Rick, Here is what I used to bypass the speaker output jack on my RX-350D aka JUPITER rcvr. 0.1 uF disc capacitors go to ground from each of the three pins on the jack that have traces going to them.
A wire on the end of a coax is going to cause RFI to any brand of rig. Get a simple home made balanced dipole up and you will not have to modify the rig. -Stuart K5KVH _______________________________
I had the same problem during the CQWW contest. I realized afterwards that I had selected the wrong antenna on 40m running a KW. I blew the Orion's memory away and had to do a reset. No big deal, and
How can one have RFI on receive? IS there another rig on in the same shack or nearby repeater? Or a broadcast station down the street? The RF levels in the receiver would not affect the computer circ
