I have found that my Orion 2 (w/ model 709 TT mike) will drive my linear to a max. output of 300 watts while providing 40 watts of drive. My IC765 (w/ the model SM20 mike) will drive the same linear

Hello Tom: You might want to take a look at the article on my website as to how to optimize the processor in the O2 to drive your amplifier more easily on SSB. You will find the page here: http://hom

Tom: This is a well-known issue in the Orions, and as recently as this past weekend, I have been adding to my understanding of it. I performed W2AJI's adjustment and noted that the internal ALC now w

Not sure what the problem could be. I run my Orion into an Alpha 99 and can run any power I like from about 200W through 1500(+) by just turning up the "Power" level (once it's tuned at full power).

What kind of amp are you driving, Tom? If it's a grounded-grid amp, your values aren't that far off (most require full 100W output on the drive to reach full rated output.) If it is, then I'd wonder

Hi Ron, Yes, I tried more drive. There was a little increase in output, but I was approaching the safe limits for the amp as listed in it's manual. Tom _______________________________________________

I am using an Ameritron 811H. If I use anymore drive power the linear meter current readings are right near the Red Line areas. Tom _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list

Hmm, OK, now I'm stumped. I ran my Omni VI+ driving a Centaur (also an 811A amp, but by TenTec), and later driving a Centurion (pair of 3-500Z's). The 811A amp required a lot more care, but I had no

Duane.... Same experience here. Driving my Alpha 91B with the O II with no issues at all. I can light all LED's if I wish. On SSB, no problem driving to legal limit with 45w. -- _____________________

Try tuning the amp for maximum output, and mostly ignoring the current readings. Its easy to tune a grounded grid linear for DC readings and not get a whole lot of power. The worst example I've ever

The website says the AT1500DT has an 'active peak/peak hold' meter. As Jerry said, tune up the amp at 500 Watts CW, then run the output of the O2 until the Palstar shows 500 Watts peak out. Ron N6IE

Peak to average ratio as I said, depends on the relative frequency and phase responses of the voice, the microphone, the transmit ssb filter and the ALC characteristic. And the meter doing the observ
