Well, after all else failed to help, I wired the cord for a Shure 444 dynamic mike, and the problem went away. This got me thinking that the problem must have been RF into the electret condenser mike

I plug my Scout into the cigarette lighter plug and it works great and a large mag mount for the HF Whip. I'm sure the Argo doesn't have the power requirements that the Scout has. Best 73, Chris KB3
