I recently got a Heil Pro Set 6 and tried to use it with the Orion II. The mic cable is a shield conductor with the center conductor to the tip of a plug and the case is connected to the shield. This

Hi Troy, Need a bit more information. The Orion II has an 8-pin mic connector and the Pro Set mic terminates in an 1/8-inch mono plug. I don't understand how it is connected to the radio. Are you usi

Troy, Thanks for the information. On page 9 of my Orion II manual (version 4- October 2006), in figure 2-3 it shows pins 7 and 8 as the mic connections. Pin 7 is mic ground and pin 8 is mic +. Pin 6

It might be worth a second look, Troy. Those pins on the solder side of that 8-pin connector are very close and the numbers are not easy to read. it would be easy to be off by one ... ask me how I kn

Hi Troy, Two other ideas ... 1st - there was an "add on" filter board to audio input of the O-II, yours may or may not already that inside the cabinet ... 2nd ... by "heavy RF" do you mean a loud hum

Hey, Billy This Orion is supposed to have the "add on filter." The sound is as though the ground for the mic has been lost--heavy hum but with distortion. I have not had trouble like this in the othe

Let's get our words straight. First, a cable shield is a SHIELD first, and a circuit conductor second. It is NOT a "ground." For a shield to WORK, it MUST be connected directly to the shielding enclo
