I had a Pegasus too. I loved it. But since I'm primarily interested in contesting, I had to trade it. The front end just was not up to contest weekends. 73 de Gary, AA2IZ panel and never ____________

There was an original Orion. Sometimes called the classic, or the Orion 1, but often just "Orion". Then later there was an Orion II. It is different hardware. No, you cannot make one into the other.
Bob,The orion and orion 1 are the same. The orion 2 is the new rig with color screen. The omni's are the same series a(original) series b and series c.The b series I believe had warc bands and the notc
That's one thing I heard a while back on one of the contest groups that turned me off of TenTec. But now I am finding out (on more then one group) that TenTec is changing. Evidently, there latest ha
Got a question as an example: OMNI VI opt 2, can this be upgraded to an opt 3 at this point or is it too old to do anything with? 73 fer nw es gud DX, QSL VIA: BUR, LotW, e-QSL Bob AD5VJ(AAR6VM) Old
Well you don't have to buy a newer Ten Tec rig to get a great contest radio. It was just the Jupiter/Pegasus series that had the weaker front ends. You can use Corsair I or II, or the Omni V series,
Ok got it. I was just reading some more and noticed the first rig to have dual VFOs was the Paragon II, but I cant find a manual on that one in order to confirm. Strange I found one on the Paragon I
http://www.qsl.net/tentec/ This may help some. Check above link. Omni a/d were same except one had digital readout. Omni a/d series B changed filter schemes. Omni D series C added some bands, changed
OK so to move from an opt2 to an opt3 I plug in a new filter board and install a new switch on the front panel? _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.
The option 3 mod was only done at the factory. You could ask if they still can do it. I recall there was a short window when the mod was first introduced and I had mine done, so it might be too late
Ok I just read where the OMNI VI opt3 is the same as the OMNI+ now I am *really* getting confused. :0) _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http:/
Bob -- You're confusing yourself. The option 1,2,and 3 were offered to owners of the Omni 6 after it was discontinued and the Omni 6+ was being manufactured. The option 3 brought it up to approx equa
Bob...I have an FT1000D and an Orion 2. If you are using the transceivers barefoot, the FT1000D transmits 200 watts, that's twice that of the Orion 2. It makes a big difference. I can raise weak dx w
Ok thank now that makes better sense. _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/tentec
I guess the only thing I would be missing would be dual receive which seems to start with the ORION. _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://l
I do the same here with my IC-775 (200W) output. I was thinking along the same lines as you are already doing (just get an amp) and don't negotiate the receiver. :0) 73 fer nw es gud DX, QSL VIA: BUR
Did the original Omni VI have DSP? I thought that the DSP was added with one of the options???. The Omni VI DSP is done in the audio, only for receive, not at a 15 kHz or other low IF. Some complain
Hi Bob, Last I heard you cannot get the option 2 upgraded to an option 3 anymore. Only significant difference is space for one more optional filter in the 9MHz IF. If you choose the filter that you p
My original 6 had what Ten tec called CW DSP filter. It was a LP audio filter with 5 steps from 600 to 1400cycles. And also had auto DSP notch. I think the 6+ added what TenTec refers to as DSP noise
