I'm not so sure if it's illegal or not. If so, then Emtron, JRC, and several others are illegal, but they get sold in the USA. I dont think they would be so popular if they were illegal. I'll e-mail

Besides the no-tune allure, what is so wonderful about a solid state amp? (Maybe good for mobile.) They are expensive, and the ones I have seen will not go over 1 kw. Aren't they kind of delicate? Do

Bill, One further point station. I'm sure we could all 'modify' amps for use. For example, does changing the power plug to be compatible with my 12V distribution (RigRunner) count as a modification?

The Tokyo High Power amps seem to be very well made. Their best-selling amp here in the US is their HL-50B which boosts 5w or 10w up to 50w. It's a favorite of FT-817 owners and other QRP operators.
