I am looking to put an HF rig in my truck. How are the TenTec Scouts as a mobile? Any other TenTec that are decent mobile radios? _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list T
I've used Scouts mobile a number of times ssb and cw and they worked great. Size is easy to setup and the rigs are simple to use - always a good idea when mobile. Storing the modules is a bit of a ha
mobile? Any other TenTec that are decent mobile radios? I used one quite a few times doing mobile CW for several 350-mile trips, and also on long (more than an hour) highway commutes many times. Did
As Michael says, simplicity is key -- as your absolute first consideration should be safety -- minumum of distractions. Also make sure things are strapped down or secured pretty well -- it's too easy
Do you get that satellite Doppler effect if you drive fast enough ???? ;-) (Obviously no need to answer this...) == K8JHR == _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec
For either portable or mobile use of the Ten Tec Scout, I bought some ice box, or drawer divider trays that are just the height of the modules, and about as tall. You can store the band modules verti
An occasional pause in sending, or applying the updates to the frequency correction circuits, should remove most issues of drift while in CW sending. The other solution is to use an external keyer, r
Try to get one with the noise blanker module option installed, helps for mobile use! My Argo-556 and Scout both work great mobile, I mount the Hustler on the roof of the car for best efficiency (rath

I might add that the noise blanker is excellent. Make sure that you get one with the blanker. 73, Bob WB2VUF _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com
Also, make sure that the power connector pins are tight and that the power connection to the vehicle battery is good and corrosion-free. Too much voltage drop will affect the stability of the Scout.
If you can't find one with the NB, it is possible to build one. It isn't too complex. 73, Bob WB2VUF _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://l
