My personal opinion lies with, you get more bang for your buck with antennas, not buying amplifiers....I've never owned one, never will. I need about 300 to finish my fourth time all USA counties, al

I find its not just as simple as 100 Watts to 300 Watts with SSB. I've been using the TenTec Model 715 RF Clipper for a couple of years and find that running my OMNI-VII at 100 Watts with 15 dB of RF

IMHO, with my style of operating, the scenario he described would probably happen to me twice in my lifetime. For the additional bucks of buying a rig with 200w, I'll buy an amp instead. Then I can n

I agree, in general. 100 watts to an antenna with 8dB gain is the equivalent of 630 watts, plus QRM nulling and gain on receive. However, at my last QTH, the HOA prevented me from having a decent ant

In my experience, and I'm sure there are folks on this list with much more experience and perhaps more astute observations, I agree with your number of around 500 watts. I use a Centurion amp (which

Yeah, but 1000 watts to an antenna with 8 db gain is the equivalent 6300 watts to an antenna with 8 db less gain (be careful whether you're comparing to a dipole or an isotropic). I've got 2 to 3 tim
