I agree with that, Scott. 73 Rick Rick, this is true, but even the 450 ohm ladder line stuff is certainly better than a long run of coax. 73 Scott -- Original Message -- From: "NJ0IP" <Rick@DJ0IP.de>

((Some content deleted)) Your point is that the better the feedline, the lower the losses, and open wire feedline is best. All true and I totally agree. The point is, if you use the very best feedlin

Based on average antenna heights above ground for the average ham location, for a 1/2 wave antenna operated on an even harmonic, the feed Z is typically in the order of 1000 to 1500 ohms. In theory,

I am curious, what are you basing that on, Bob? My computer modeling suggests otherwise, but I am using the NEC-2 engine, so I don't know how valid my data is. The ARRL antenna book mentions that inp

Actually if you have a very-low impedance load, a low impedance line is better. Open wire line made from say #14 copper has more loop conductor resistance per unit length than a piece of Andrew LDF4-

Folks, lets look at the REAL numbers: RG-213 length = 100 ft Frequency = 10 MHz SWR = 30:1 {thus load Z = 1500 ohms} 100 watts in results in 31.5 watts out RG-58 length = 100 ft <Do you actually dare
