Well, being a CW only op, I have to disagree with this just a little. My Orion does not have the 1.8kc filter, so today when I received my 600hz filter, I moved the 1kc filter into the empty 1.8kc p

Tom: Just to get some clarification on the QSK issue; When you say a rig won't run QSK above a certain speed, are you saying it won't key that fast or that you can't hear between the characters or bo

no On the other hand, the number of operators who run QSK CW at a bezillion WPM must be exceptionally small in the grand scheme of things.. (Anybody can SEND that fast. I can't copy much over 25 wpm

I've never actually sat down and tested it that way Steve. What I mean by QSK is can I be broken at what ever speed I happen to be running, be it 30 wpm or 90 wpm. Yes, to the Corsair 2 and an IC-781

I wonder if part of the QSK problem is related to DSP signal processing. I used several outboard DSP filters in the past such as the NIR-10, NIR-12, and the 599zx and I found in order to run QSK with

Yep. How many days after a contest, can you still hear signals in your head? The brain cell does some funny things to us. My ears developed a very good low pass filter after spending 3 years sleeping

Yes, I think your correct. I was told that as soon as they generated sidetone with DSP, their QSK speed dropped about in half! But with the Omni 6 series, it turn out to be 'pot luck' because my Omni

Tommy, The hiss you describe on the Orion can be easily eliminated. It is caused by the AGC in the Orion trying to bring all signals no matter how weak to the same volume level. The threshold control
