Ken, surely sounds like a thermal warm up problem. Might check any connections/ solder joints near the display chips that get warm, or just resolder, (touch up) all those chip leads, and interconnect

Spencer, why would you want to or need to do that? The transceiver only switches into transmit when you key a dit or dah, in which case it is drawing a lot of current. It is not idling in between. I

Just some thoughts on this. The Corsair shapes the CW keying envelope at low level. As long as the transmit path is linear (and it normally is) the shape is preserved to the output. Nice clean transm
