The best sounding for ESSB is the Heil PR-40, but a lot of other mics will work well, too. The Heil GM 4 or GM 5 can switch from an excellent sounding 'studio quality' mic element to either the HC-4

John, I use an Audio-Technica ATR-30 on my Omni VII with excellent results. You can buy the mic new with cable and mic clip for around $33 shipped, it will sound as good or better than the Heil PR-40
