- I am tring to get my grandfathers old tentec triton 540 up and running. I had to order a replacement power cord from the power supply to the radio from tentec... Well it came through with the polarit

- Reversal of DC polarity may have failed some electrolytic capacitors. Also, if it is working weakly, maybe a diode in a bridge rectifier is open. How long was the polarity reversed? That may tell if

- More information: When the polarity was reversed this is what happened. I powered on the powersupply, the current meter on it spiked and then when to zero current. This took les than a second, and I

- My experiences with reversed polarity is that the fuses are reliable indicators of fried semiconductors. That semiconductors fail faster than fuses open, so time isn't much of a factor. ICs dislike r

- Thanks for the information. I have located the manual which has a schematic. I guess I am going to have to dig in and start changing parts. I do not think I destroyed every IC as the radio powers up

- Don't overlook the possibility that the Trition was protected from reverse polarity by a reverse diode across the 12 volt supply connection. If this is the case, the diode would most likely now be sh

- Why not try to troubleshoot it rather than randomly changing parts? Do you have a signal source for audio and a tunable one for RF? Start injecting an AF signal at the speaker audio amp and work back

- I would do this, but I do not have any source for injecting the signals required. Right now I only have an old 40 MHz oscilliscope and a DVM... --Original Message-- From: Kevin Purcell <kevinpurcell@

- Have you a finger? it can inject signals while acting as an antenna. For the price of a battery and an op amp you could have a decent audio source. Have you another receiver you could tap for signals
