I did some reconfiguration on my 80M 4-square this past month and after hooking it back up I noticed that I now have a high SWR on the bottom end of 80M in the NE position. Yes, high SWR to the Comte

Bill, If you switch the NE phasing line with the SW phasing line at the Comtek box, does the high SWR stay with the NE position or does it move to the SW element? If so, then I would suspect somethin

Bill, I had a similar problem last year after a nearby lightning ground-strike and it turned out to be a broken shield connection on the line between one element and the Comtek box. It was difficult

I have had my 80 meter 4 square up for 4 years and have seen similar problems on numerous occasions. Each and every time, the problem has been traced to a broken center conductor or braid on the feed

Paul, I agree with Dick, WC1M, on the need for a clearing at least within the square. I put down 256 #16 enameled Cu radials total, directly on the ground and within the square it got pretty messy. I

Hi Paul. I'm using a phased array on 40 with 3 verticals. There is a big tree about 15 feet from the S.E. vertical and it doesn't seem to affect it much. I have all my radials laying on the ground. S

VE7CC has his 4 square installed in the trees and it's a killer. He strung overhead catenary lines and then used them to pull up the wire vertical. Then he installed a couple of elevated radials per
