Dave, Why wouldn't you use the entire 47 foot boom? Guy attachments five feet from each end of the boom will work well with your heavy 0.25 inch wall boom. It sounds like you're planning on full size

Actually, irrigation tubing is at least 0.050 inch and heavier grades are available. I have made 30 foot unguyed verticals out of it that survived very high winds (>70 MPH). I'm think your Yagi plan

Thanks but I've had the dipole element up for over 5 years in King George County...have had 31 trees blow over but the antenna is just fine so far. What about the boom question. Truss connection...al

If the boom was a uniform cross section (it is) and had no other weight loading (it does), I would truss it at the 2/3 point from the center. This leaves all unsupported sections an equal length. Sin
