Hi I've been reading the ON4UN book and antenna articles online on and off for a couple of years now but I thought I'd share my situation with some more experienced Guys on here to see if I can perha

Pull up an inverted L and try it, there is no other way to find out how it will work for sure. Even if you have poor connections between sections, and the beams are isolated from the tower, there are

Jack, If your tower guys are non conductive, you could try a full wave delta loop in a triangle configuration and feed at one side for vertical polarization. It would give you some gain, less noise a

I had very good results on 80 with an HF2V and an extensive ground radial system in Minnesota. Got a lot of 80 DX, including zone 23 (supposedly the hardest for WAZ on 80). Did not get all zones, tho

Larry, your excellent results suggest that you have already solved the "desert radial" problem! On the unworkable 80m feed problem, that is easily solved by use of a parallel tuned circuit from the b

Jack The Inverted L or vertical at one side of your tower can work, but the most important to make it work is the radial system you need to have to make it work fine what understand from your descrip

Thank you to everybody that has replied so far both on and off the list. At the moment I'm leaning towards a Butternut HF2V with top loading wires. I did think about a delta loop but came to the conc

Remember that my excellent results were in Minnesota, not Arizona where I now am. I don't know whether I've solved the Arizona part; that experiment is coming! This reference, though: http://w4rnl.ne

He said his tower was painted. I bought a bunch of unpainted Rohn 65, and some of the sections had light rust. Since I planned to keep them up a long time , I painted them. Now, Rohn 65 is flange typ

Good point, Bill. OTOH, it depends on HOW they are painted. My towers are painted, but I carefully did not paint the tips of each section, so it does make good connections. 73, Jim K9YC _____________
