Greetings all... I'm checking the A3S I have presently on the new tower (work in progress)..I have the Reflector cranked up about 10 ft from the ground (antenna facing up at 45 deg angle) and get the

Tom-- I have the earlier model of this antenna; They appear to differ mainly in manufacturing details. I tested it by aiming it straight up at about 4 feet. It matched the curves in the users manual

I wonder if this a NEW antenna or a used one? If this is a USED one, one sure way of driving yourself to drinking is to have the TRAPS in the wrong place. CUSHCRAFT in their infinite wisdom does not

It i difficult to install A3 traps backwards, but they certainly can be installed in the wrong place. A good Gate Dip Oscillator will tell you which is which. I have an original A3 (not S) that has s

Time for the Grid dip. I had to go thru the same thing with mine. I bought it used and got it all in a box with no labels. Your readings are about exactly to what I had with a trap out of place. Unca

Tom, I agree and I've tested HF beams only a few feet above ground with the boom vertical and "aimed" towards the sky. Usually I've accomplished that by laying the reflector across a couple of wooden

I threw a connector on the end and used the AEA analyzer with the tower standing up..not cranked up but at 21 ft..and it's still the same..low on all bands... On 20 lowest at 13900(1.63) , on 15M low

First, I'd be really sure the traps are in the right positions, and re-check all dimensions. If all is well, you need to shorten the elements a bit (certainly the driven element as a minimum). When y

It really sounds like you have at least one dimension out of wack.  The antenna should at least be ok on 10 meters since (I believe) it isn't using the trap.  Another thing that could cause this woul
