Is there any way to tell when the ICE or Polyphaser arrestors need to be replaced due to taking too many lightning hits? Any way to tell if/when your tower has taken a hit? __________________________

I use Polyphasers. There are spares to use for testing. Simply move the inside and outside connectors to the spare to see if: 1. There is an increase in signal strength; 2. There is a change in VSWR.

A small hi-pot tester is invaluable for checking most suppressors. You can easily check the voltage that they are supposed to break down at. Polyphaser makes/used to make a unit called FIST for this

That wasn't me, but it's just another illustration of how misleading the SPG term can be. Many people were on the steep part of the learning curve around the time TTL and then Schottky logic appeared
