If you could put up only ONE antenna to cover 20 to 10 Mtrs (including WARC), what would you select ? The antenna will go on top of an LM-470. Thanks for any suggestions. 73, Dick, W1KSZ ____________
Well I have a Tennadyne T6 up at the moment and although I am not entirely disappointed with it, I'm not sure it is the route I would take again. I think I would go with the XR5 from Force 12. Phil N
Tennadyne T-12, probably. The 4L SteppIR is a better (gain) antenna but I've already heard of five motor failures and I suspect I'll be hearing of more over time. T-12 has no moving parts, no traps,
Phil: I have a T10 and love it. It beats the heck out of the two triband beams I had previously. When I put it up no adjustment was needed, it was flat SWR wise on all bands. http://lists.contesting.
SteppIR 3 element. I have the US Tower 72 footer, freestanding. You get 3 elements, 5 bands, instant 180 degree reversal of the pattern. A bi-directional mode which is very useful except when you nee
An anecdote on the SteppIR since it came up a few times- a local ham had half an element simply fall off of his, pulling the metal strip out and leaving him with a 2 1/2 element beam and an un-retrac
For the record - I had a controller fail - Mike, K7IR, at SteppIR sent a replacement, no questions asked. I also had an EHU fail - again, Mike sent a replacement gratis. I've had nothing but exceptio
This is pretty broadly contrary to the experience of the SteppIR owners I know, who have had excellent support from Fluidmotion. You might want to look into the facts a little more. 73, Pete N4ZR ___
Put up the 3 element Steppir you will never regret it .Mine has been up for 5 1/2 years. I needed to replace a chip in my steppir control a couple of years ago . I called Steppir and had the chip i
Well a topic like this always invites comparisons and a lot of folks like to whip out their "mine's better" sword, get all worked up and start shooting flames all over the place. No need! This is one
Matt, as you are the one who brought up third party stories about SteppIR antennas, I would suggest that the one who "start(ed) shooting flames all over the place" came from you and your unnamed sour
Every antenna has maintenance problems. Bad/shorted traps, damager baluns, elements falling off the boom, plastic parts failing because of UV light, ect. Mine's been up 3 years without a problem. Jul
Question about it. The SteppIR either 3 or 4 element. Julio, W4HY If you could put up only ONE antenna to cover 20 to 10 Mtrs (including WARC), what would you select ? The antenna will go on top of a
And to cap off an already nearly perfect antenna, the fiberglass elements are so slick that the birds can't seem to get a toe-hold to allow them to roost. They have found the aluminum boom, however.
Matt, That is contrary to my experience with Stepper. VU2PAI and i ran into Mike and team at the bar in Dayton. During the course of our conversation, we did talk about the 4 element stepper that Pai

I know a guy who lived near the SteppIR guys in Issaqua Washington back in, I think it was probably 2002 or 2003. He bought one of the first 3 element beams, didn't install it, left it in the garage.
So let me say categorically, no one who buys one of these beams needs to worry that K7IR is going to leave him hanging, with a single little broken fiberglass pole!!! de Rick K2XT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since I've been called out as potentially dishonest, and I happened to be over at Skip's tonight, I snapped a picture of his SteppIR. http://matts.org/tmp/ad0h_steppir.jpg I also got to see the eleme
I've found the folks at SteppIR more than helpful. I had a motor failure shortly after installing my 3-EL. Mike, K7IR, spent aver an hour with me on the phone, and lots of email time afterward, runni
