Considering your antenna constraints, the best way to improve your signal is to get an amplifier, however, you say you are a low power station. Maybe you should consider being a high power station. R

My 80 and 40 antennas are wires in trees, but the trees are redwoods, and the wires are at 110 ft, so they really play. :) One is a 2-el wire Yagi for 40M. A dipole at 35-40 ft is pretty good for 40

A small freestanding tower next to the house is really easy to install. If you or your wife is against that, how about a roof tripod with a small tribander? I am a DX'er that also enjoys contesting.
