Ron Educate us! What was the orientation of those antennas to the wind direction when they 'failed' the stress test? What was the amount of radial ice on them? Were they stacked in a Xmas tree? If so

HI Ron, Sorry to hear about your ice storm and the antenna damage. Very frustrating indeed! Here is SW Connecticut we unfortunately get ice storms several times each fall and winter although we have

OK Don (and All), The antennas were stacked in 'normal' Christmas tree fashion. There was about 1/4" to 3/8" (measurements were taken on the ground AFTERWARDS) of ice after the freezing rain, which t

Wasn't it an inch of radial ice on the F12 pictures about a week ago? I wonder how the F12 turned out. We had gusts of 85 Kph last night, but no ice. No antennas down here, because no antennas up :-

That F12 was fine when the ice melted. That's the usual story with those. Wasn't it an inch of radial ice on the F12 pictures about a week ago? I wonder how the F12 turned out. We had gusts of 85 Kph

N4KG: Do you mean the super thin wall 7/16 inch diameter Element TIPS failed? I HATE those flimsy HyGain end tips. Too bad someone ( HELLO TEXAS TOWERS ) doesn't sell heavier wall 7/16 inch O.D. repl

Ron, I have 2 each of those three antennas, spread over two towers, at heights from 50 ft to 141 ft. See: www.erols.com/n3rr I live in an area where the wind is funneled down into a trough and blows

My iced-up Force 12 came out just fine, but mainly because I was lucky and didn't get the incredibly high winds that Ron got after it iced up. Under the wind conditions he was talking about, mine wou
