I apologize if this may have been discussed before.... Thinking of standardizing on a set of color codes for bands on coax, switches, filters, etc. What's the best choice? I'm ruling out black as a c

That is what I do on my Hamsticks is use the resister color codes on the base. Easy to pick out the one you want from the "pile". red = 20, yellow = 40, etc. 73, Jim KG0KP ___________________________

Interesting idea! Since no current band has a 9 in it, you could substitute white for black and go "EIA" -- this would cover the WARC bands: 160M - brown, blue, white 20M - red, white 17M - brown. vi

Well, we do have a 9cm band and there are at least six of us using it here in the USA. I don't think your suggestion would bother the other 300,000 or so hf/vhf operators though. 73, Gerald K5GW In a

The other scheme is to use P-touch labels with big letters (1/4" high works nicely on RG-213 (.405" od) coax) and put a piece of clear heatshrink over it to hold it in place. Color codes are great as

That's close to what I did with my Hamsticks, except that I used orange for 30M (a very nice mobile band), violet for 17M (also a nice mobile band), and blue for 6M. I'm not (yet) enough of a glutton

I use "flag" type zip lock ties, as I call them. They have about a 3/8" x 3/4" "flag" to write on using a permanent fine tipped black marker. There is generally enough room to print the antenna name

There a re a couple of other wire label options. 3M and maybe others make wire labels that have a white surface to write info on and a clear portion of tape covers the writing to preserve it. Another
