I've noticed the exact same thing with my EF-515 & EF-420/240 antennas. It usually happens as a storm front is approaching. It even causes a little static in my TV & stereo. I haven't turned on the r

Hummm. I had a similar problem with my Force12 EF-180A (80M rotatable dipole). The bird feces (droppings) would saturate the fiberglass insulating rod at the center of the driven element causing cond

According to Tom (don't quote me on this) in a previous note a while back, its ok to remove the pvc insulators from the elements (except for the driven element(s) of course) and attach them directly

I have the same phenomenon with stacked C4XL and C3. As a storm approaches from the distance, I hear clicks in the receiver, increasing in amplitude and decreasing in "inter-spike interval" as the st

Try putting some static drain resistors across the points where it's arcing. 100K @ 2 watts ought to do nicely. 73, Roger -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/towertalkfaq.html Submissions: tower

Do you mean across the element ends bridging the insulator? Or do you mean from each element half to the boom? What are the potential down sides to this? Thanks & 73, DavidC AA1FA -- FAQ on WWW: htt

Install the resistors across the point where arcing occurs (in other words, across the insulator). The potential down sides are that the potential is downsized! (What a great straight line ... thanks
