I hope to have the beam on the tower tomorrow. How much of a loop in the coax below the boom should I leave and is it best to secure the coax to the boom for a certain distance from the so-239 back t

Secure it to the boom on both sides of a loop??? What is the purpose of this loop? You are not talking about a loop to let the mast turn I take it?? David Robbins K1TTT e-mail: mailto:k1ttt@arrl.net

Your question is ambiguous, Charles. It's unclear what loop you're talking about. If it's the rotator loop, then it should be taped to the mast along several inches (minimum), and then taped again to

Going by some photos(can not get a detailed view) on the net it appears that is the way a loop is formed when the antenna rotates it takes slack out of the loop so you can turn it 180, I assume , in

Jim, Thanks. I am talking about the coax from the rig to the antenna not the rotator cable. The coax will go through the 3 coax arms up to the boom. So just secure the coax back along the boom and le

The coax will go through the 3 coax arms up to the boom. So just secure the coax back along the boom and leave some slack in it and secure it at the top coax arm? The antenna is 1 foot above the top

Ahhh...my rotator turns 520 degrees.<:-)) (PST-61) As I'm using rather large coax I use two turns, 18" in diameter, with the antenna at the center of rotation. The coax loop lays on the top plate of

ORIGINAL MESSAGE: -- REPLY FOLLOWS -- I'm not clear on why you want to tape the coax to the mast. Mine is taped to the boom, circles around the mast and is taped to the tower. Never touches the mast

I can see taping only to the boom if you have only one antenna on the mast. If there is more than one antenna on the mast, you almost have to tape the cables to the mast below the bottom antenna, bef

Taping to the boom is fine. I tape to the mast when the boom is not near the tower but, e.g., ten feet above it. I don't like to have a lot of unsupported cable hanging up there, blowing around in th

ORIGINAL MESSAGE: -- REPLY FOLLOWS -- I've never had more than one antenna on a mast, but I still don't like taping to the mast because it makes the loop small. Why not tape the upper antenna's coax

Taping the coax to the mast is almost a necessity with a crank-up, especially when there is an antenna is mounted just above the top of the tower. The tower tie point would have to be at the top of t
