- Just as a side note to those who might want a discone, stay away ... FAR AWAY from the radio shack model, or any with HOLLOW elements. You want solid rod, stainless steel. Also most of the TRAM stuff

- I note they list the maximum power on their "diskcone" at 200 watts (50 - 1300 MHz). What on earth is in there that would limit the power other than spacing between the top and skirt beside the coax

- Jim, You are totally correct. I STAND CORRECTED..the one I mentioned a short while ago was not the Icom but the DIAMOND discone. A senior moment here to be sure...but it has lasted 15 years and still

- Roger, I would assume the dielectric would be a limiting factor on a straight top disk. However, the ones that use a stinger on top usually have a base loading coil built into it to match the impedan
