I tried this several days ago and got not a single response. That tells me either that my question was incredibly stupid, or incredibly insightful. It seems neither to me, so I will try again and see

Gary, all I can tell you is my practical experience. Have a Hy-Gain 402BA (2 Ele 40) that the previous owner tightened the element to boom set screws too tight crushing the boom and stressing it so h

Since none of the experts has responded, I ran a home made model of the Cushcraft XM402 through AO and rotated the reflector around the boom. The model was run in free space with no other antennas p

Gary, Sorry not to respond sooner, but have been tied up in revising a book MS. I modeled a 2-element DE-Refl beam in FS. The gain was about 6.1 dBi, F-B about 10.7 dB, and the Impedance about 52 Ohm

L.B.'s results indicate that my model is on the right track (the loading losses are about 1dB) so I decided to re-run the test over ground. I chose 75 feet again with no other antennas, guy wires or

This a request for comment about a slightly different aspect of a thread covered here recently, particularly by LB. My Tribander (a Cushcraft ATB34, an earlier version of the current tribander) has b

Bill, Your total beam side tilt of 10 degrees is not fatal, but still less than otimum. Several models average about 0.1-0.2 dB loss of gain and about 1 dB loss of F-B. Impedance change is not great.
