Anyone have real-world experience with phased verticals on 40m? Actual comparisons to high dipole, etc would be greatly appreciated. Bottom line...was it worth the effort? 73 John W4II ______________
I installed/built a 4 Square for 40 about a yr ago and thnk its worth all the sweat! Used DX Eng's Controller and phase box, but built verticals from 2 in alum pipe (30 ft sections) and 3/4 in alum e
Hello John: The Comtek/DX Engineering (four ground mounted quarter wavelength elements in a four square configuration) is significantly better compared to a high dipole for DX communications It is al
Hi John I had a 3 element phased array on 40 and it worked great until the wind took it down. It was switchable in 6 directions and was like rotating a beam. Would like to get it back up someday. 73
I have the real world experience you're seeking. Back in 1997, I built a full-size 40m 4-square with 60 ground radials per element. It worked great, and beat the heck out of the full-size monopole th
I run a pair of 1/4 spaced verticals East/West, using the simple 84 deg feed lines, and a 71 deg phasing line, from ON4UN's fourth edition, page 11-9. It works very well for me, and is easy to build.
Hi all I have recently built a 4 Square, completely home brew, including phase unit. In terms of construction it was pretty straight foreword, using ON4UN's book and the TK5EP Website (4 Square page)
