I would like to ask the opinion of what is described in the antenna compendiums as a "Folded Monopole" that could be used on 160 meters. It appears to be an antenna that easier for me to experiement

Hi Larry, because it is much simplier for me support on my city lot to hold up the Thanks Any reasonably tall well constructed vertical works very well on 160, but you need a fairly good ground syste

Hi Tom. Making the vertical into a folded monopole makes it easier to match than a single vertical. I've put up a couple of them for 80 and they are a great match to 50 ohm coax. Are they less effect

Hi Tom, Same. Folding makes no difference in efficiency, except the increased conductor area from the additional conductor slightly lowers the already minuscule "copper loss" in the wire. If you use

The article in the compedium is short, but my understanding of antenna theory would make me believe that the increase in the feedpoint impedance would make the matching network less critical for loss

Larry... You are going in the right direction... Put down as many radials as you can as this will do more to enhance your signal on 160 than any other factor, bar none.... Length is not critical, jus

Hi Larry, impedance Circulating currents and losses are a function of VAR (volt-amperes reactive) power as well as the resistive part of the impedance. With an omega match, losses are always higher t
