My G-1000DXA rotor came completely unhinged from its GC-038 lower mast clamp and left my 3-el Steppir and attached rotor dangling from the attached cables. It appears that the attachment bolts on the

I should have mentioned that in the photo, the right two shots of the mast clamp show zero damage to the mast clamp itself. The left shot shows the one damaged bolt hole on the rotor itself. ________

Hi Barry, Glad you didn't have damage to the beam. I don't know much about the 3el Steppir, but that seems like a lot of antenna for a mast mounted rotor. The antenna wobbles back and forth, loosenin

Thanks for responding Chuck. I'm on rented property, so I need to use the AB577 and a lower mast adapter type rotor installation. Isn't there any way to prevent the bolts from working loose like they

I put up a G-800 in the last year with a lower mast clamp. If I remember right, I had to swap out the bottom bolts that came with the G-800 with longer bolts, when the mast clamp was used. I had the

The original bolts are lost now but the GC-038 doc calls out M8 X 25mm long bolts. The holes are deeper - there's still probably a half inch or more of threaded hole deeper than what is broken off on

Another consideration would be to properly torque the bolts based on the materials involved. Too lose and they can work their way out and if too tight they are prone to stripping. Regards, John NA6L

Grant has a good idea with the Heli-coils although you *may* have enough thread left for a secure hold. Rather than lock washers I'd use medium grade "LocTite". I don't remember the colors now for th

Hello, Even when a rotor is mounted on a plate, the bolts can and do fall out. One of the best ways to prevent this is to safety wire the bolt heads using SS wire. For some pictures see: http://tinyu

You can get Locktite Quicktape-249 which is a nicer way to go. You apply it like the way that Teflon tape is applied to plumbing threads. If I remember it is Blue. You just pre-apply it to the bolts,

Take care to use the right grade of Loctite. The blue liquid 242/243 should be fine for the three undamaged holes, as it is designed to be released with hand tools. For the fourth hole that doesn't
