That's pretty close to what I use. I use a bracket drilled for the bulkhead connector fastened to the tower leg with a saddle clamp. The problem with just clamping the bulkhead connector to the tower

True, but in over 50 years I don't remember ever having a PL-259 fail IF you don't count direct lighting strikes to the top of the tower. Those are the only connectors I flood with DC4 or DC5 compoun
