Hello All, My question is on using aircraft cable leaders on both ends of a non-conductive guy, like Phillystran or Kevlar. How long should they be? What size of steel cable should be used for the le

ARRRH - whoa there, Pilgrim. 'Aircraft cable' has no business being used in a tower installation. I've never seen a manufacturer spec it. You only need EHS leaders on the anchor end to prevent possib

Anyone know if the study attributed to Mr. Gordon was limited to observations with yagis mounted at tower tops only. e.g. above the guys? Seems this would be fine, but is a different situation than s

Actually the modelling showed that there was actually some small amount of gain for the wire antennas due to guys acting as reflectors. Cheers, Steve K7LXC http://www.championradio.com -- FAQ on WWW:

Hi Frosty, I use thimble to thimble here. If you want no resonances in the ham bands, the conductive leader at the tower end should be 10 feet or less. At the ground level, you need to get the Kevlar

Probably. The reason you break up the guys with insulators (or use Phillystran) is to minimize/eliminate antenna interaction with the guys. If you turn your beam and the SWR changes as it rotates - y

That's probably due to Mosley's interacting with ANY conductor in the vicinity - even a 2M vertical. No other manufacturer has anything close to that kind of statement or requirement. Cheers, Steve K
