I've always liked the Butternut HF6V. When I was in Spain I had a Cushcraft 5 band vertical and a friend of mine had this New Butternut thing. He consistently out did me in calls and sig reports. Whe

Do what I did. Build a homebrew version of the HyGain HyTower using Rohn 25 and a stinger from a Butternut HF2V. Costs less than a MFJ HyTower and is better. The secret: lots of radials(mine has 80).

Hi, have you thought about the Big Steppir vertical, it will do all bands through 6 meters from 40 meters and 80 meters if you get the extra coil. Plus it will work the CW end of the bands plus phone

I would strongly recommend the SteppIR (BigIR) with 80m coil for very efficient all band coverage. Anything else is a compromise, and usually has higher losses and narrow fixed tuned bandwidth. Like

SteppIR with 80M coils? Everything else is a compromise? Don't think so. Not as efficient as my homebrew version of the HYGain Hytower which has no coils or traps. ___________________________________

My homebrew HyTower works on 20, 40, and 75 with no extra stingers. That's cuz I made the length of the Rohn 25 exactly what is needed to resonate on the phone section of 40. It also works great on 1
