When I tried to turn my 3 EL SteppIR beam this morning the rotator wouldn't turn. I could hear that the brake was releasing ok, but the antenna wouldn't rotate. Off and on lately, but not frequently,

Carl Time to climb the tower to check the connections on the rotor. Sounds like corrosion. I would suggest you first check resistances with your meter on the wires coming into the shack. You can find

Carl, the replies from KQ2M and K4XS both correct, but there is still another possible cause of the rotor not turning. It is possible that the motor AC starting capacitor inside your control box has

Thank you to all who replied to my cry for help. I have now lowered the beam down to ground level and checked the connections on the rotator, as well I have had a cursory look inside the control box.
