I'm evaluating options for a future station. I'm thinking a Steppir DB36 with the 80m dipole would be a likely choice atop a 75ft tower. I'm evaluating the possibility of either a crankup/tiltover or

Check the tower specs, but I would think that 75ft of guyed Rohn 45 would be more than sufficient. Rohn 55 seems to be overkill to me. Build the DB36 on the ground and tram it up or get a crane. I'm

Use a Tram! I my case I took a TH-5 tribander and a 7L C3i 6-meter Yagi up the side of a 100' 45G guyed at 3 levels. I used a rope through the gin pole with workers on the ground pulling the antennas

With only my XYL's help I have installed much larger antennas by pulling them straight up the tower using pulleys and my SUV. I either pull the antenna away from the guys or when that is not feasible

Jim - I recently took down my 90' guyed tower and 4L SteppIR and installed a crank-up tilt-over. Here's why. I don't climb and it's hard/expensive to hire a climber and a crane. I had to take the Ste

I have also used this method. The only thing I did different was I attached a good quality rope to support the tower below the beam boom before I disconnected guy cable. Probably not necessary but it

Thanks for all the helpful replies! I was concerned not only by the somewhat ungainly nature of the floppy trombones but also the 160lb weight. Are these concerns overblown? Btw any climbing would be
