If you're referring to installing Preformed grips around insulators, I think the factory would DISCOURAGE you from performing the above operation. There are two crossover marks on Preform grips. The

Let me just amplify what Steve has said. Preforms are made from a very hard grade of steel which is very brittle. Hammering on them could easily make hairline cracks that could cause them to fail at
