I have a C3S tribander which I seldom use except when on WARC bands. It is useable there but not as good as I think it would be modifying it for 24 and 18Mhz. I wonder if anyone has tried that? I don

HerbI have done alot of experimenting with the old F12 C3 line. What you are proposing is certainly feasible. If I were going to do it I would definitely model it in EZNec first before I touched a si

I would be interested in what you come up with Herb for the C3S. I was thinking about the same thing. I am learning EZNEC but have a long way to go to tackle this design. It's way above my pay grade.

You can also optimize and put levels of importance for SWR, Gain and F/B with EZNEC if you have AutoEZ. I have played a little with AutoEZ and find it to be a great tool. There is no reason to ignore

Take a look at the design of JK Antennas XR5. It is based on the C3. He has added elements for 12 and 17. https://jkantennas.com/assets/xr5-jk.pdf <https://jkantennas.com/assets/xr5-jk.pdf> Bob K6UJ

I wasn't suggesting that, John. Rather, I was observing that gain and pattern are what make an antenna a good performer. Far too many hams think that if the SWR is low, it's a good antenna. :) Sure w

I have a C3SS and it works to a fashion on the WARC bands but you have to turn it 180 degrees from the signal, the swr is over 10:1 but I still manage to work most stations. (Also works very well on

The perfect example of your point Jim was the infamous Maxcom antenna that claimed 1:2 to 1 from 2-30 Mhz! Actually, when you hooked your rig up that was very close. Further examination of the potted

Just looked at the Navassa 5 antenna, pretty well sums up what you need, albeit with the trad bands but it is feasible with not so much weight gain. https://jkantennas.com/jk-navassa-5.html failing t
