Ladies and Gents.... Recently, I had to replace my 40 meter dipole (more of an Inverted-Vee) antenna because the coax center lead had broken off the. The dipole worked OK, but I was never really sure

Lee: I have a couple of suggestions for you to try. I'm assuming you are using an antenna analyzer to check SWR. If you are using your rig's SWR meter, that will change some fof the tests I suggest,

Hi Lee, Just a couple quick suggestions/comments, you'll surely get many more. If you have or can get an antenna analyzer, try it right at the antenna, without the coax. Lossy coax will show a lower,

Hi, In my experience there is always some type of interaction with antennas and ANY close by objects, it always shows on SWR measurements. I run an Inverted V 55 ft at the apex on a METAL side arm ha

Hi Lee, You have some interaction between the 40m dipole and the 80m dipole. Take down the 80m dipole temporarily and ground its ends to your tower ground. You can then find a lowest SWR on your 40m

I put your 40m inverted vee and the adjacent 80m inverted vee into EZNEC (as I understand your layout), and as others have suggested, the 80m antenna does BAD things to the impedance of the 40m anten

Hi Lee I think if you are not using a balun, the length of coax will make a big difference in the SWR. You might try adding a chunk of coax and see if it changes the antenna. I have a couple of ante

Add a Balun to the feedpoint and see what happens Bob, W5AH _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting
