I am contemplating putting up a loop in the 1400 foot length range.I am planning to use this at least at first as a 75 and 160 meter balun fed loop. I have known 1 or 2 people to do something similar

I would choose a length with good radiation efficiency. There's a group on Yahoo! about "skywire" antennas and here's a good article that models a 574' skywire: http://n1su.com/loop.html I'm working

While the pattern is a cloud burner on 80M (when sized for full wave on 80M), the radiation angle comes down as the frequency is increased. Additional lobes appear, but it is a good useful antenna fo
