How about the typical dogbone or end insulator commonly used on dipoles. Tie one end off to the tower or whatever support and run the wire thru the other end. The ends are typically smooth anyhow so

Why not try a piece of Lexan? Cut it retangular shape, in one end put two holes to run mounting rope through, put a slice from that down towards the other end. This will allow you to slip the insulat
