Ignacy, I have three TIC rings.  I have documented the method I developed to install my first ring.  Like you, I found problems getting the ring to not bind as it rotated 360 degrees.  The answer was

The driving gear is close to the roller but the problem is with the position gear. It is now wider than before and is positioned in the middle of the rollers. Some spring mechanism would have helped

My motor and potentiometer are in the same enclosure. I have several different styles, all were purchased 30+ years ago. The indicator gear in middle of the rollers could definitely cause engagement
