Remove dirt from around the rod. Cut it off with a hack saw 6 inches below the ground. (a Sawzall is better suited). Just cut through about 1/2 the rod then break it off. Put the dirt back in the hol

I use an engine hoist and a couple of 2 X 6s laid out flat under the legs to keep it from sinking in. I chain looped around the ground rod so it pulls itself tight, or a good clamp and you can pull 8
