Hi Everyone! I own an Icom 7600 and a Zero-Five 43' vertical. I would like your opinion. Do I trade in my Icom 7600 and buy a Yaseu FTDX-5000D or should I buy a tower and beam and put that up. I thin

That's not even a fair question. You have a very nice radio and a vertical. Keep the radio and get a tower and beam, without a doubt. Jim KBØX Hi Everyone! I own an Icom 7600 and a Zero-Five 43' vert

I think you'll notice the performance improvement of a directional antenna at an appropriate altitude vs an omnidirectional vertical much more than you'd notice the difference between almost any two

Hi Bill, Go for the beam and if you have enough room try a sloper for 160m. 75m and 40m. I have a 55' crankup with a TA-33 and an Alpha Delta sloper for 160m. 75m and 40m they play nice together. 73

Bill, Go for the tower and beam - you will work stations that you won't believe. If you can't find a local to put it up, try Mike N7MB in Bloomington. 73. Bill K3WA Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T Hi Eve

Tower and antenna, no doubt. Most bang for the buck. Will hear better most of the time and the differential in results will be greater there than a change of rigs. mike, k5wmg * * * * _______________

The 7600 and 5000 are both great rigs. "I think" about the only thing you'd gain is the 5000 has dual receivers so it can operate on any two bands while the 7600 has "dual watch' meaning you can tune

ALWAYS put your emphasis on the best antenna(s) you can put up. Don't spend a dime on radios until you've done that. 50 ft in flat land is not a bad height if that's what you're limited to. 73, Jim K

Bill, I totally concur with Harry. I have an FTDX-5000MP, IC-775DSP, and FT-1000D. They excel when used in conjunction with a Hy-Gain HG-54HD 54' tower and a Force12 C-4XLD yagi. I agree with the sta
