I would appreciate any observations on the following: My antenna is a 3 el SteppIR mounted on a 22.5m telescopic tower. The rx noise floor is direction dependent: beaming ~120 deg from JN04BK it can

what is the noise? does it have a power line frequency component? does it have other peaks in the spectrum, if so at what spacing? if it is just white noise is the direction dependent on the time of

No, it's not sun noise, I'm familiar with that from my eme days. It is broadband hash with no marked peaks, any regular pattern in the spectrum would show up on the waterfall. I can see +5dB noise pe

That figures, Dave. It is definitely the wrong azimuth (constant) for sun noise. 73, Pete _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mai
