I don't have a US Tower, but my Tri-Ex LM470 occasionally will do that. In my case, it has always been a windy day, and while the tower doesn't lean with wind, the sections do move slightly downwind.

I have exactly the same tower and have had exactly the same problem. Bee's Wax is the solution. Do not use anything else (grease, etc.). As the tower nears reaching  its fully extended position, the

I solved that problem with some bicycle dry teflon lube from one of the online bike shops. I goes on as a liquid and the solvent evaporates leaving a teflon coating. K5GAK DM52 ______________________

I recently replaced all the cables on my tower and at that time checked and lubricated all the pulleys. One pulley had to be replaced. If a pulley is bad, it will tend to be bad at any tower height,
