Hi All, Has anyone used 1/2 PEX tubing (normally used for plumbing) as a spacer for open-wire line or fan-dipoles? (PEX is cross-linked polyethylene.) It is cheap in 5 lengths, easy to work, and pass

As it is very light weight and seems to be fairly rigid, it looks like a good candidate for this purpose. Any experience with this stuff out there? Most PVC conduit is labeled as "UV resistant," and

All, This link provides info on PEX tubing from one manufacturer. I does not look like this material is good for applications where it is exposed to direct sunlight. http://www.viega.us/4901.htm Robi

Don, Garden variety PEX (Cross-linked polyethylene) is not UV stable and should never be purchased from a supplier who stores his stock outside. There are however available sources of UV stabilized P

Whats wrong with these? Ive been using these for at least five years, and theyre fantastic: light-weight, minimal wind resistance, and UV-resistant. Mine are spaced every 18 on my open-wire lines. ht

Larry, I'd go to a paint store, yup a store specializing in paint and painting materials and equipment and ask them. Failing that I would go to a ship chandler and get some UV resistant paint intende

I'd avoid the "water pipe" due to lack of UV resistance. "I think" you will find the plastic water pipe will turn brittle with long term exposure to UV. NOTE, I have not used plastic water pipe in th

I have hydronic heat, some in-floor PEX and some in the ceilings. The almost clear as well as the dull red are used. The only UV exposure is prior to installation so for this use UV is not an issue.
