I'm not sure Towertalk is the right forum, but here goes: I'm using PL-259s outside to connect transmission lines (Belden 9913) that run up the tower to my antennas to the underground lines that run

I experienced something similar once when I unknowably used Lead-Free solder on a half dozen connectors. I thought it flowed poorly when I put the connectors on and less than 6 months later had a con

I had the same problem with 9913 and mine was sealed thoroughly. Lightning blew the seal off at the top and wqith in 15 minutes I had water running out of the rig. The solder on those began to disint

Yup, between one and two cups worth. 9913 is like a pipe with a center conductor suspended by a spiral. Twas a 90' vertical run plus about 85 to 95' horizontal to the radio. Ruined the desk top too.

PL-259s are not water resistant and they should be properly sealed it outside. Also Belden 9913 can easily fill with water. Since this joint has been exposed to water I think you should replace the c

Kim, I am wondering if this might be a fatigue failure of the solder. With 9913, the center conductor can move axially during diurnal thermal cycles since it is not captured tightly by the helical in

Kim, It could be that the other connector is in the process of failing. I would expect that the number of cycles to failure would vary over a population of connections. One thing you could do, Kim, i
